Yuki's grandparents determine that now that she is thirteen, she must go down to Earth to a bandit-infested town and intervene to save its residents. If she does not achieve within a year, she will become as insignificant as the wind. Yuki is met in the village by a group of orphans whose parents were slaughtered by the bandits and who now survive by begging. Yuki astounds everyone by taming the wild horse Blizzard. She is essential in convincing the orphans and farmers to oppose the warring bandits and subsequently Goemon, the selfish lord who controls the land. Yuki is then confronted with her greatest struggle when the enraged Demon God who resides on the island appears.
