The narrative of the film takes place four years after the events of the original Shirobako anime. Aoi Miyamori keeps herself occupied at Musashino Animation by dealing with everyday problems. Watanabe talks to Aoi after a morning meeting and assigns her to a new theatrical animation project for the company. The project has encountered unanticipated difficulties, and Aoi is doubtful if the firm can proceed with a theatrical anime in its current state of affairs. Aoi meets a new coworker called Kaede Miyai while coping with her nervousness (voiced by Ayane Sakura). She and the MusAni crew collaborate to finish the project.
