Chise Hatori wound up at an auction after many trials in her life, where she was purchased and subsequently released by the famed Thorn Sorcerer, Elias Ainsworth, only to stay and become his apprentice. Though her life is now lovely, the advent of a picture book, "The Lonely Little Star," brings back memories of those difficult years and the loneliness she experienced. Chise suffered a major sorrow as a child: the loss of her mother. She has led a separate and sad existence, shunned and despised by classmates and relatives alike. The unexpected discovery of a secret library in the forest, on the other hand, offers her with a temporary haven. Chise gradually begins to feel better after reading innumerable books and spending time with the kindhearted librarian.
