Yuuta Okkotsu, a shy 16-year-old victim of high school bullying, is frequently subjected to violent misfortunes. Yuuta is cursed with a monstrous power that exacts brutal vengeance on his tormentors. Yuuta's curse, Rika Orimoto, is a specter from his tragic childhood and a potentially lethal threat to anyone who dares to wrong him. Satoru Gojou, a powerful sorcerer who teaches at Tokyo Jujutsu High, is drawn to Yuuta's unusual situation. Gojou sees Yuuta's immense potential and hopes to assist him in channeling his lethal burden into a force for good. Yuuta, on the other hand, is struggling to find his place among his talented classmates, including the selectively mute Toge Inumaki, weapons expert Maki Zenin, and Panda. Yuuta clumsily employs Rika on missions with the other characters.
