Miaka Yuuki and Yui Hongo continue their normal lives after finishing their voyage within the legendary book The Universe of the Four Gods, with one exception: Miaka is allowed to carry her beloved Tamahome with her. Unfortunately, additional problems arise shortly afterwards, jeopardizing the couple's hard-won pleasure. Tamahome is swallowed by a crimson light and disappears immediately before Miaka's eyes while visiting the graves of the two other girls who had journeyed within The Universe of the Four Gods. After witnessing the strange occurrence, her brother Keisuke and his closest friend Tetsuya Kajiwara decide to assist the bereaved Miaka in finding her boyfriend again. Meanwhile, Tamahome has been reintroduced into the story, only to realize that 50 years have passed.
