The kid born from a peach; the moon princess discovered within a bamboo; the elderly guy who can make a dead cherry tree blossom, and so forth. These brief stories, which educate children to appreciate the good and bad aspects of life, have passed down traditional moral principles from generation to generation. Each half-hour episode of Folktales from Japan has three self-contained stories, both well-known and new, with a specific emphasis on touching stories from Tohoku, the northern area greatly affected by the 2011 earthquake.
