Death Note (Japanese: ) is a Japanese television drama series based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's manga series of the same name. Ryichi Inomata, who directed the 2011 television drama Kaseifu no Mita, and Ry Nishimura, who directed the special edition of the 2014 drama Kamen Teacher, directed it. The show stars Masataka Kubota as Light Yagami, Kento Yamazaki as L, and Mio Yki as Near / Mello and tells the story of Light Yagami, an intelligent yet reserved college student who discovers a mysterious black notebook known as the Death Note, which can kill anyone whose name is written within its pages. He begins to utilize the Death Note to kill individuals who pique his interest in the notebook's god-like abilities.
